Honda scooter market dominance of Indonesia. PT Astra Honda Motor (AHM) said, at the end of the first half of 2012 they succeeded in increasing the domestic motorcycle market share of 56.8 percent compared to the year 2011 only reached 51.8 percent.


Strengthening Honda's market share in nearly all segments, especially the type of scooter. AHM noted scooter market share reached 64.7 percent with sales of 1,409,337 units. That number jumped 31.1 percent over the same period last year its sales reached 1,075,336 units, only 53.2 percent of the existing market share.

Deputy GM Sales Division AHM Thomas Wijaya said the growth of Honda scooter can not be separated from the public interest to the modern variant of Honda's scooter, stylish, powerful, fuel efficient, and equipped with safety features that no other scooter. Not to mention most of the scooter is equipped with Honda's PGM-FI technology from Honda's latest.

Based on data from the Indonesian Motorcycle Industry Association (AISI) in the period from January to June 2012, motorcycle sales in the domestic market recorded 3,702,354 units, down 8.7 percent over the same period the previous year which recorded 4,056,075 units.

In this weakened market conditions, AHM listed as one of the producers who are able to maintain sales growth, which is of only 2,099,349 units to 2,101,881 units.

In the scooter segment, Honda's even listed as the only manufacturer able to enjoy increased market growth of 7.6 percent, from 2,022,228 units in the first half of 2011 to 2,176,634 units in 2012.

A number of scooter models that are marketed today among AHM Honda Beat, Honda spacy In Helm, Helm In spacy Honda PGM-FI, Honda Scoopy, Honda Vario Techno 125 PGM-FI, and PCX 150 Honda PGM-FI.

While in the motorcycle segment, AHM also managed to increase market share through several line-up as the mainstay of Honda Supra X 125, Honda Supra X 125 PGM-FI in Helm, Honda Absolute Revo, and Honda New Blade.

In the motorcycle segment, Honda's market share increased to 58.3 per cent recorded after pocketing the sales figures of 609 932 units. In the same period last year, Honda's market share in this segment of the duck is only 56.1 percent.
